Gmail, Google Docs, Sites, Drive and a number of other Google services began experiencing widespread service outages across the globe about 12 hours ago. Below is a screenshot from their status dashboard https://www.google.com/appsstatus#hl=en&v=status reflecting orange-band disruptions. Services have already been restored for some users, and Google expects a resolution for all users "in the near future."
